I love the Mountains. I completely forgot how beautiful they are. Two weekends ago we were lucky enough to visit the Rocky Mountains right up close. Pat attended a CE course and decided that since he was going we might as well make it a family affair. I didn't really know what I was going to do by myself with three little kids in a bustling tourist town. I can't even count the number of times I was told " Wow, you sure have your hands full". Of course you have to picture me pushing Emmy in the stroller with one hand, Rawley riding on top of the stroller and Hadley being drug by the other hand beside me. If I was seeing this I would say the same thing.
But anyway after spending the first morning getting organized (and spending $30 on breakfast)we were able to see some of the fun things that Banff has to offer. We made a trip to the grocery store for something to eat for breakfast for the rest of the weekend.
We had a chance to go up to the Banff Springs Hotel which was one of the first Hotels built in Banff. I guess it has a history of paranormal activity, so I was glad we didn't stay there. But Pat said that someone from the course experience something while he was staying there. Weird! We saw some great views and took these pictures.
We also went to a couple of parks including Central Park or so it was called, and found this rock sculpture. Hadley took a tumble off of it and split her lip before I had a chance to take any pictures and so that is why she looks less than enthused, and we visited the playground at the elementary school so they could play for a little while. Then a drive to Bow Falls and the golf course which is set down inside the valley. It would be pretty cool to play there completely surrounded by beautiful mountains. Sorry no pictures of these. All the kids were sleeping in the back of the car, and I didn't want to wake them getting them out. A drive up Sulfur Mountain to see where the hot springs were and also the Gondolas which we considered riding but decided to wait till the kids were older.
Sunday afternoon was an uneventful drive home, so that we would be around in time for Thanksgiving. All in all a fun trip. I can't wait to go back and actually have Pat's help with the kids, and take in a few more sites.
