I can't believe that my baby is 6!!

Today my sweet little baby turned 6. It seems like only yesterday that we brought her home from the hospital, and I couldn't imagine having her as a part of our family. Here are some things that you might not know about our girl.

She is very helpful. It doesn't matter what she is asked to do she does it with no complaints. I do hope that this trait continues the older she gets.

She loves her brother and sister. Whatever happens she is always the first one to give a hug and say she is sorry even if it wasn't her fault. She adores Emmy and is always trying to help her in any way possible.

She loves to learn. I know that Grade 1 will be a good experience for her because she needs to learn everything that she possibly can. I sometimes feel inadequate when she asks me a question that I don't have an answer for.

She is patient, kind and giving. No explanation required. She has always been this way!

We had a party with just the Grandparents so that she could have some friends over for another one after school starts. She is a lucky girl! She may even get 2 parties every year from now on. And this is my feeble attempt at a wishing star cake! She loved it thankfully!

Happy Birthday Hadley! We love you!

A weekend just for the Girls!

So I just had an amazing weekend away with some friends! It was a great trip! Who can complain about shopping, eating and sleeping in! Thanks to my wonderful husband and sister (since she helped me out Friday morning), we were able to leave Thursday afternoon and came home on Sunday night. Along with all of the shopping we also got to see a chick flick, and spent the nights at the hotel staying up way to late talking about random things. We really had a lot of fun and we did of course miss our husbands and kids by the end, but can't wait to plan our next trip away together! Sorry no pictures to post, but we did get a good shot of us and all of our loot!

Templates!

So I was looking for new templates and stumbled across this blog. It has an amazing number of free templates available that are pretty simple to use! I figured that since I am not all to computer savvy I should still be able to have a cute looking blog anyway! Hopefully this helps some others as well!

Animals, Waterslides and Family Fun

We are back! After a whirlwind of activities we have finally made it home. Whew! Traveling is always an adventure, but even more so when you throw 3 little kids into the mix. We had a very fun time while we were gone, and have finally settled back into the routine. Except that my sister and her family surprised us and came up for a visit a week early. Now we are enjoying having them around and putting reality on hold for a little while.

We started our adventure with a trip to Calgary. We spent a few hours at the zoo. This was the first time that our kids have been to the Calgary zoo, and they really enjoyed it. They were little troopers too! Hadley and Rawley walked the entire time, while Emmy relaxed in the stroller.

We got to see the new babies at the zoo! The elephant!

The giraffe!

And the baby gorilla, but unfortunately my husband missed that photo op! He did however get a good shot of the Silver back.

And Rawley's favorite part was the Dinosaurs!

We also went to Pat's cousins farewell in Airdrie on Sunday, he is going to Argentina. After a little rest (we decided to sleep in our own beds before heading down to Whitefish) we were off again. This time for a little bit more fun. We ate some good food, got to play a little bit, and spent time with family.

We went to the water slides, and by the end of the day our kids were going down all by themselves (with life jackets of course). Emmy even enjoyed the water, but she did have to take a few breaks!

We spent an evening by the lake trying out our fishing skills and relaxing by the water. Emmy spent the time contemplating on how she could shake us long enough to run straight for the water. But eventually found a distraction with eating the rocks!

She also had fun walking the dock with Grandpa

All in all it was a great time for all. We can't wait to do it all over again!

We must be crazy!!

I am still not quite sure why we decided to do this, but now for lack of better judgement our yard looks like this.

and this

and this

Of course it must be done in order to install the sprinklers and do the new landscaping, but I am not sure how happy I am to be without a yard for the next few weeks. Hopefully I will be able to keep my kids entertained other ways, and thankfully we will be gone all next week. Stay tuned for the after pictures! I am quite excited to see how the changes turn out! We also had a wonderful rain storm hence all of the water in these pics.

Rawley and Emmy had fun watching them dig out the grass with the bobcat. I think Emmy must have spent the majority of the afternoon watching them.

Summer Fun!

So I figured that I should maybe post about all of the exciting things we have been doing this summer! Well it has been fun that is for sure. Not only has my 3 year old almost completed every level in Mario Kart Wii (I was reading The Host), we have also made it to the spray park a couple of times, completed one session of swimming lessons with another to go in August, and made it to the lake today with my friend Amy and her kids. All in all it has been pretty eventful considering we still haven't left for any real trips yet. Here are some pictures of our adventures!

The Spray Park!

I don't know why she was crawling like this but she did the entire time!

Right before their last day of lessons!

They were in the same class, which was very nice for me! This was their instructor Becky!

Making a sand castle at the lake!

So far a great summer, but it is going by so fast! We have a trip to Montana planned for later this month so I will update more then, hope everyone is having a great summer just like us!

She walks!

So Emmy has technically been taking steps since the end of April, back and forth between Pat and I, and just about everyone else. I am sure that she was "walking" earlier, but I don't officially call it walking until my kids do one thing. They have to be able to stand up by themselves without holding onto something for support. Well my sweet girl did that on June 29, 2008 (which was also my dad's 60th birthday) right in the middle of my primary lesson. Pat was out of town on a fishing trip to Vancouver, hence the reason why she had joined in my class. I did finally get a little video of her accomplishment, and now I am finding it easier to chase her around. She sure was fast on her hands and knees, and still relies on them when she tries to make a quick getaway!
