It finally happened....
we had our first visit to the ER tonight! I guess I should be happy that we managed to elude it as long as we did, and knock on wood that our next visit doesn't happen for another very long time! So I know that you are all dying to hear the story so here goes. The lucky winner of the visit was of course Emmy, turns out she has just as much curiosity as her older brother. The reason? Apparently she didn't get the memo about not putting things in her nose! We started at the walk in clinic where after a couple of different techniques it was still stuck. Then a call to the ear nose and throat specialist on call with no luck. Next a call to the ER for a consult and the decision to go there to try using some suction, because it was not available at the clinic. Thankfully there was no wait at the hospital and after only being there for about 10 minutes it came out on it's own. And what was this mysterious object that caused all of the hubbub.
A tiny little back pixo that she found on the floor. I guess we will be making sure that each and every one that gets dropped from now on is found. Emmy survived the ordeal and I am glad they didn't end up using the suction because I think that might have made it more traumatic!

Why can't my baby stay a baby forever???
I have officially decided that I don't want Addy to grow up! I am enjoying the baby time and don't want it to end but unfortunately it seems like that is the case. She is now 3 months old and growing like a weed, even my doctor asked me what I was feeding her! She is tipping the scales at 14lbs 6 oz and is 25 inches long.

Oh where oh where did the time go?

Merry CHRISTmas!!
So I have decided that this year I completely dropped the ball on Christmas cards. I normally have a family picture done earlier in the fall in order to have them ready and waiting for the Christmas cards, but for some reason this year that did not happen. Hmmm I wonder if having a baby had something to do with that??? I will use it as my reason although I don't think my husband will agree! For that reason I will tell all of you that they will be late, so when you open your mailboxes this January and see a card from us at least you have some sort of explanation!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year anyway!

There is always one!
On Thursday night we were able to watch the kids school Christmas concert! They did a fantastic job with all of their pieces. Rawley performed 3 songs with the rest of the almost 100 kindergartners in our school. He has been singing the songs over and over at home for me so I had an idea of what to expect! One little girl totally stole the show when it came to their last song called the Reindeer Boogie. She had the entire audience cracking up with her dance moves! The Grade 2's performed 3 dances. Hadley's group did a ribbon dance to Jingle Bell Rock. She was super excited to perform and has turned into quite the little dancer. I couldn't believe how well she did. I also have to mention one other fun tidbit from the evening. I had bought her some new tights for the night, and before we left she was constantly pulling them up. That should have been a red flag for me, but I didn't have time to get her another pair so off we went to the concert. During her performance not only did she pull on her tights she was the one girl that pulled up her entire dress to pull them up! Yep and she did it twice! I just about dropped the camera because I was laughing so hard, but I did get it on film. Unfortunately it is on our old video camera that still uses a tape so I can't share it with you until I can figure out how to get onto the computer! Here are a couple of pictures, again they are not the best but I tried my best!

I also braved the Ward Christmas party alone with all of the kids, I almost didn't go but it was worth it. I gave the kids a pep talk before we left about running around and such who would have thought they would actually listen to me! There was good food and really great program I think that Pat would have enjoyed it, but a last minute change in his weekend made it impossible to come with us. Our ward activities committee really out did themselves and made it an enjoyable evening for everyone with more focus on the Savior instead of a visit from Santa!

Time for an Update!
I think that December is the hardest month for blogging. Our Decembers always start busy and stay busy until the year ends. By January 1st I am feeling more like myself and ready to tackle the resolutions that I have set for myself. This year though I hope to maybe accomplish some of those resolutions!! So to start we have already had 2 Christmas parties. Yep 2. The staff party and the annual Johansen Christmas party that we have been going to together since we got married. Which was 12 years ago. Yeah I kind of dropped the ball on that one, by not blogging about it. It ended up being just a usual day for us considering it fell on a Sunday this year! Okay so I got just a little off topic. The Johansen party which it has been known as always consists of yummy food, a re-creation of the nativity by all of the kids, a talent show, singing christmas carols and a visit from Santa. This year Hadley and Rawley got to play the coveted Joseph and Mary parts, Addy was the baby Jesus and Emmy was a sheep. We were minus Pat because he had flown to Indiana because of this. He barely made it through to Calgary before they closed the roads. We got hit by a huge blizzard the day he left. So bad that I am still shoveling snow! The plus side is we may have a white Christmas because of it. This week doesn't get any better. The kids have their school Christmas concert Thursday night and then it is the ward Christmas party on Friday. Pat is gone again Saturday for a wrestling tournament and who knows what we have in store for us next week. It is the last week of school before the much needed break! Now all I have to do is figure out when to fit in trips to the gym and when to finish my shopping. I think Saturday! But we will have to see! I will leave you with a picture of the party not the best because of the lighting but it was the best I had.

Oh and one more thing! We braved the cold weather to get Addy's 2 month shots! She is now 13lbs 4oz and 24 inches long.

More Pictures!
When Addy was a week old we celebrated Canadian Thanksgiving and while we were all together I convinced my older brother Trevor to take a few shots of her. He has a big fancy camera that takes really good pictures and lights and talent and so much more! Plus he had never photographed a newborn before. So I figured since he was a photographer that he could use her to practice on! Here are some of his favorites and mine too!

They turned out fabulous, now if I could only get him to take some family pictures for us! Hint Hint!
